The Monk |
The Monk is regarded as the rarest Osborne Ivorex figurine. This is a very fragile piece which is probably why few have survived. Walter Davis who worked for 'Arthur Osborne' passed information to his wife who said that the first ones were a sienna wash colouring brown and later ones were painted with the black. There are no markings on this piece. The model stands approximately 7 inches high. The first one in his picture is a German bisc figure, not an Osborne but possibly used as an example or maybe later copied from Osborne. The second Monk is the first yearly version with the brown wash colouring followed by the black one. |
