Mandolin Player

Produced 1959  to 1963. Height 10 inches. Wall Figurine Composite. With orange or yellow shawl. There is also a rarer pink version. Forms a set with Drummer. Mandolin Player was one of the first Character wall figurines to be produced after Snake Charmer

 

Rarity - Fairly Common. 'Pink shawl' version is Rare.

Produced 1963 to 1965. Sculpted be Fred Wright. Height 14 inches. Forms a set with Geisha. There is a version with a detailed painting of the Fan.

Mr Bumble

Produced 1970  to 1996.  Height 5 inches. Forms part of the 10no 'Charles Dickens Series Composites'. Older version with light blue tunic, newer version with dark blue tunic.

Earlier models have a grey necktie and a protruding wire mount. The later versions have a purple necktie and recessed wire mount.

 

Mounting Boards

There are a bunch of the so called "common" heads that were on backboards. There is a red backing, blue, and white / grey textured backings. Bossons always used a paper label underneath the heads.

'Bossons Ivorex' figurines included 7 known models - Little Neil, Oliver Twist, Mr Micawber, Mr Pickwick, Tony Weller and later discoveries were David Copperfield, Sairey Gamp and The Grandfather.

The detailing was not particularly good on these models

Produced 1964  to 1996. Sculpted be Fred Wright. Height 5.5  inches. Forms part of the Dickens Collection. There is a version with black edging to the collar.

Experimental Model - Mounted on a display card of red felt, with the name of Mr. Pickwick at the bottom of the card. Bossons mark on the collar. Information on the back of the card states "This is an advanced sample subject to final adjustments in the position of the head on the display card"

Model is slightly larger than the standard Mr Pickwick (5.5Hx3.75Wx2.50Deep). Registered copyright date on the rear is 1959. Stamped on base is - Mr Pickwick 1964 Bossons England.
