Mandolin Player

Produced 1959  to 1963. Height 10 inches. Wall Figurine Composite. With orange or yellow shawl. There is also a rarer pink version. Forms a set with Drummer. Mandolin Player was one of the first Character wall figurines to be produced after Snake Charmer

Rarity - Fairly Common. 'Pink shawl' version is Rare.

Mexican

Produced 1959. Height 8 inches. Difficult to find in good condition. There is a version with diamonds painted inside the cross pattern on the sombrero. See Detailed Study.

Also called 'Mystery Lady' or 'Mexican Lady'. Probably produced around 1959.

The Rarest

Possibly 3no know examples, this example has the older stamp markings on the back - there may be an example with a newer stamp mark on the back   (ie - BOSSONS ENGLAND COPYRIGHT RESERVE   P)

Produced 1963 to 1965. Sculpted be Fred Wright. Height 14 inches. Forms a set with Geisha. There is a version with a detailed painting of the Fan.

Produced 1987 to 1996. Sculpted be Alice Brindley. Height 6.25 inches. Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson & Moriarty form a set based on the characters in books written by by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Produced 1963 to 1966. Sculpted be Fred Wright. Height 6 inches. Based on the Persian wall mask. There is also a lamp version.

Yellow robe with white shirt versions is more common. There is a rarer version with white robe and red shirt

Mozart

Produced 1991 to 1994. Sculpted be Alice Brindley. Height 7 inches.

An illustration of the real Mozart the famous Austrian composer.

Mozart models with Bossons Mozart 'display frame'. As far as we are aware these 'display frames' never went into production and were experimental only. This frame and models were from the Richard Bossons collection and sold via auction Oct 2022

Experimental 'Display Frames' were also produced for the Engineer, Don Quixote, USAF Pilot and Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman

Mr Bumble

Produced 1970  to 1996.  Height 5 inches. Forms part of the 10no 'Charles Dickens Series Composites'. Older version with light blue tunic, newer version with dark blue tunic.

Mr Micawber

Produced 1964  to 1996. Sculpted be Fred Wright. Height 5.5  inches.  Forms part of the 10no 'Charles Dickens Series Composites'.

Rarity - Common

Earlier models have a grey necktie and a protruding wire mount. The later versions have a purple necktie and recessed wire mount.

Mounting Boards

There are a bunch of the so called "common" heads that were on backboards. There is a red backing, blue, and white / grey textured backings. Bossons always used a paper label underneath the heads.

Bossons Ivorex

The detailing was not particularly good on these models

Mr Pickwick

Produced 1964  to 1996. Sculpted be Fred Wright. Height 5.5  inches. Forms part of the Dickens Collection. There is a version with black edging to the collar.

Rarity - Common.

The Experimental Model is 'Extremely Rare'

Experimental Model - Mounted on a display card of red felt, with the name of Mr. Pickwick at the bottom of the card. Bossons mark on the collar. Information on the back of the card states "This is an advanced sample subject to final adjustments in the position of the head on the display card"

Model is slightly larger than the standard Mr Pickwick (5.5Hx3.75Wx2.50Deep). Registered copyright date on the rear is 1959. Stamped on base is - Mr Pickwick 1964 Bossons England.

Prototype of Mr Samuel Pickwick developed by the Bossons Company in 1959.  Common version of Pickwick issued in 1964.

Mr Wang (2nd Edition)

Released to Members of the IBCS in 1996. At the time it sold for $85.

Rarity - 1st Edition is 'The Rarest'. The 2nd Edition is 'Rare'.

The original 1st Edition Mr Wang - very rare. Sculptured by Fred Wright in 1962. Never put into production
